Jakey from OpenPLi forums found an interesting and quite simple way of making 290e stick work on OpenPLi (Vu+ Duo2). Here are the steps you need to follow:

    1. With FTP go to your /etc folder and rename the opkg folder to opkg.pli

    2. Unzip the opkg_vix.zip (see attachment) and copy the opkg folder to /etc

    3. Using telnet type "opkg update" without the quotes, this will refresh to the ViX feeds.

    4. Type "opkg install enigma2-plugin-drivers-dvb-usb-em28xx" again without the quotes, now all the required drivers and modules will be installed without error.

    5. Now you can rename the opkg folder to opkg.vix (if you need it again) and the opkg.pli back to opkg and "opkg update" again to put the feeds back to pli.

    6. Reboot the box in order to get USB stick recognized by receiver.

You can also use this procedure for installing other drivers or even plugins which are present in ViX but no present or are outdated in OpenPLi.
